FAQ's

- Are your bags suitable for my tortoise? All of my forage is suitable for all tortoise breeds. I do not currently pick grasses, cacti or fruit which some tortoises would naturally graze on.

- Is this forage alone enough to sustain my tortoise or do I need to provide other things for them to eat? Different breeds have different needs and so you need to research this depending on your own breed. Most tortoises need the following to lead a happy life: a good variety of forage, a calcium source (wild greens, limestone rock, chalk, cuttle fish bone, calcium powder), fresh water daily (warmer water for soaking), a stimulating environment with varying heat levels and plants/rocks/digging pits to explore, the occasional piece of fruit/vegetable and plenty of daylight. My tortoise also enjoys timothy hay, sedums and cacti. Many pet shops suggest the use of shop bought pellets to feed your tortoise, these vary massively in quality and the main ingredient can be grains that they wouldn't usually eat in the wild so shop around to find a good source if you choose to supplement their diet with pellets.

- Are your bags pesticide free? The areas I pick from are away from any potential chemical spraying, they are areas that are protected, allotted for re-wilding and on public footpaths that are a good distance from farmland, major roads and factories. I have been a passionate activist for organic and sustainable practices for over 15 years now and have a good knowledge of how to spot areas that have been sprayed recently or in the past as well as areas that may have been contaminated by other pollutants. The only way I could guarantee that all my forage is pesticide free would be to grow it all myself on my own land (which I am working toward). If you want to learn more about pesticide use in your local area or about the policies we have/do not have here in the UK I encourage you to visit the Pesticide Action UK website for more resources: www.pan-uk.org

- Do you offer forage all year round? No, not currently. Due to the extremes in temperature causing forage to be sparce in these times I am currently closed to all orders including subscriptions during August, January and February. On occasion I may have to pause all subscriptions and orders due to illness, injury, childcare issues, extreme temperatures, extreme weather fronts and short forage supply, all customers will be contacted as soon as I am able during these times and offered a bag at a later date.

-Can I feed the forage to my other animals too? Yes! Almost all of the forage is suitable for rabbits, chickens and guinea pigs too. The foods I would not feed them are the sedums, any spiky leaves/shoots and garlic mustard.

- How do I store my forage? Please store the bag you receive in the
fridge or empty the contents into an airtight container lined with a t-towel, paper towel or tissue. All of the plants are already washed before postage and should stay fresh and crisp for at least a week once refrigerated. If your plants appear a bit wilted on arrival you can soak them for half an hour in cold water, drain well and then store as above, they will soon freshen up again.

- My food is wilted/smelly/gone off/soaking wet, what do I do? The forage in your bag mainly consists of wild herbs which carry quite a pungent scent that our modern noses have long forgotten, this is normal and your tortoise will not be put off by this. If just slightly wilted please read the question above. From time to time the food will arrive in a less than ideal condition and may be very smelly, soggy and brown, this is usually due to delays in the postal system and things being returned to the sorting office. Please contact me at fedwildly@gmail.com for a refund or replacement bag. If you can provide an image then this is very helpful for me for future deliveries and for making complaints to couriers.

- My bag has not arrived, what do I do? All orders should arrive within 10 days of purchase, if this period has passed then please reach out to me at fedwildly@gmail.com for a refund or replacement bag.

- When do you post out subscriptions? I have currently paused all subscriptions but hope to open them again when I have more support.

- What is your refund policy? If you do not receive your order after 14 days of ordering, your forage arrives in inedible condition (photo preferred) or your ice packs have burst in transit you are entitled to a full refund. Your order may be delayed due to adverse weather conditions, illness, short forage supply or strike action, if this is the case I will inform you of this delay and offer a new guaranteed delivery date.

- I am waiting for a refund, where is it? Refunds both on Etsy and my website can take up to ten days to hit your account after you receive the notification. On the rare occasion I do not have the cash flow to process the refund this may take up to 28 days.

- I am waiting for a response to a query/email, why does it take you so long to reply to your emails? It is not unusual for me to take up to 5 working days to respond to an email, in times of illness that can go up to a week or more. At this time the company has no employees and this means that I am not able to offer immediate communication for my customers like some of the other larger companies out there. I am generally in the office on a Monday and Thursday so will likely read an reply then.
